I’m delighted to accept the Real Neat Blog Award

Last week Jess from Beyond the front cover was kind enough to nominate me for the Real Neat Blog Award. Thank you Jess, it’s much appreciated.
Jess’s blog is fantastic and if you haven’t checked it out already I really recommend you do. She writes brilliantly detailed and thoughtful book reviews, and fascinating discussion posts. She also shares her own personal journey about her life, and I adore reading about her little girl and how she’s growing. I’m a big fan and really enjoy everything she posts.

Jess’s Questions:

- Have you ever read a book through recommendation that you ended up hating? If so, what was it? I’ve been recommended too many books from different genres that I’ve hated. But I can’t remember even one of them. I’m terrible really, as I never remember titles of books – it’s like once I’ve read it, it gets filed, never to be looked at again.
- What was your favourite book when you were a child? You might be shocked to know that we didn’t have access to many books or reading as kids. The only book I will never forget was Robert (Rabbie) Burns book of poetry. I’d moved from Newcastle back up to Scotland when I was 11 and started a new school. The rotten English teacher had me stand up and read from that book – how the other kids howled with laughter – a Geordie accent reading out loud a Scottish book of poetry!
- If you could sit down for a chat with one author who would you choose? I’d love to talk to Alain De Botton who’s written many books and one of my favourite’s is “The course of love” set In Edinburgh, where a couple, Rabih and Kirsten, fall in love. They get married, they have children — but no relationship is as simple as “happily ever after.” He has a terrific sense of humour and just writes about life as it is.
- Which destination is number 1 on your travel bucket list? I hope my next trip is to San Diego to see my son and his girlfriend. From there I’d love to take a trip to Hawaii.
- How is your timekeeping? Are you usually early, late or on time? Unfortunately, I’m always the one who’s late! It’s a terrible habit and I always think I have more time to get ready. But I do forget that my physical disability hinders me somewhat, and I should factor that in when I’m going out.
- If you didn’t need to sleep, what would you use the extra time for? It would be researching for my blog, no doubt. Is that boring? Or maybe I’d be reading one of the hundreds of books stored on my Kindle.
- What is your favourite time of the day, and why? Believe it or not, I love being awake in the middle of the night when it’s quiet and peaceful in London. There’s no juggernauts rumbling down our road or boy racers revving their engines and screeching away – aaarrgghhh!
Questions for the nominees

- Tell us a bit about your blog and why you started it.

Over to you

There’s something great in all the above blogs and you might want to drop by to see for yourself? In the meantime, I’m happy to read any comments – maybe about how I’m Scottish and my love of Rabbie Burns poetry or my English teacher!

Thanks for participating! Loved reading your answers! I really hope you get that San Diego trip as soon as possible! I’m always late as well, for me it’s the issue of being distracted too easily and then time runs away with me 🙈
Lol 🙂 I think Europe might potentially open it’s doors sooner that the USA, hence a trip mayto Spain before San Diego 😉 x
Yes that does seem the more likely of the two, it’s horrible feeling cut off! I should have said in my last message but thank you also for your kind words at the start of your post, made my day reading those, which was much needed after a day full of hay fever feeling sorry for myself 😂 x
Congrats!!
Gee, if I never needed to sleep, I think I’d actually get bored!! 😮
Lol, it never gets boring for me, there’s always something to do 🙂
Congratulations on the well deserved award!!
Thank you Pooja x
You’re welcome!
Congratulations! I get what you mean about books you hated but don’t remember. I have a similar memory auto-erase when it comes to movies. It’s probably for the best. There are so many better things to store in our minds.
Ah, yes. It’s the same with movies and who stars in them. So glad it’s not just me 🙂 But yes, you’re right, better things to store in there 😉
Woooop, congrats on the well deserved award! Will check Jess’ blog out in a minute. Just wanted to say I’m the same with book titles; once the book has been great, it’s highly unlikely I’ll ever remember the title, even when I’m reading it let alone when I’ve finished it!
I know the pandemic won’t help travel, but I do hope you’re able to safely see your son and his girlfriend in San Diego in the near future. Hawaii would be a lovely stop off afterwards, have you been before? I don’t suppose you’ve got room in your suitcase? I’m only 5’3” and I’d love to go with you! 😂
Caz xx
Haha, I’ve also been known to look at the title on my kindle – even when I’m reading the book, lol.
I can’t wait for this pandemic to be over Kally – same as everyone no doubt. I’ve never been to San Diego and Hawaii so I’ll be super excited to go. Haha, I was intending going with an empty suitcase so I could buy lots of goodies in America – I’d hate to suffocate you with all my new shorts and t-shirts.
But I promise to tell you all about it when I return 🙂 x
Congrats on the award and for the nomination, will be my next post!
Great, looking forward to it 🙂
Congratulation on your award nomination.
Thank you Tangie.
You are welcome
